Throw Away Your Television
We are sleep-walking into a collapse of our civilization...you can see, if you just look away from the screen.
“Three things cannot be long hidden: the Sun, the Moon, and the Truth.” - Buddha
“Propaganda works best when those who are being manipulated are confident they are acting on their own free will.” - Joseph Goebbels
“Propaganda does not deceive people; it merely helps them to deceive themselves.” - Eric Hoffer
In society today, we spend much of our waking ours staring into a screen, instead of the outside world. Never really engaging with other people or noticing what is right in front of our eyes.
The screen bombards our eyes with bright lights and our nervous system with feel-good chemicals - like a rabbit caught in the headlights of an oncoming car.
These screens dictate what we believe, what we think and how we feel.
If you don’t think so, then where else do you get your news, education and facts from?
Your grandparents? They are in a care home.
Your parents? They are immersed in screens too.
Your neighbors? You don’t even know them.
The majority of information you consume arrives directly through a screen.
If it is from social media, then it has been chosen to be found by you by an algorithm.
If it is from mainstream news, then how do you know it is the truth? If you only watch CNN then you will think FOX to be fake news, and vice-a-versa.
If it is from your friends or family, then what about outside your own echo chamber?
Do you honestly believe your opinions are your own? Or do you parrot whatever emanates from your screen? Or whatever you know will be accepted by the majority?
You will only ever vote red team and never blue team.
You will only ever watch FOX and never CNN.
Can you really know what is true if all your knowledge accounts for less than 1% of all recorded history?
Has any source of information through one of the many screens you gaze into lead you to become wealthy?
Have any of these screens lead you to become debt-free?
To be healthier?
To be happier?
Or after many years, if not decades, of staring into screens are you still depressed, sad, lonely, debt-ridden, poor and angry?
Can you honestly say that without scrolling through Instagram or Facebook endlessly, without scrolling through your Twitter feed every time you feel bored, without watching the same news channel to stay up-to-date, without voting for the same political party, you would not be as successful, happy and peaceful as you are today?
The bright lights on your many screens are drawing you into false information every day.
Just look at your time spent on screens and then take an honest look at your life.
This is not an argument to take one side or another…are you left or are you right, are you liberal or are you conservative.
It is to say that all divisions are constructs. A circus.
An election is a pantomime. Punch & Judy. Biden & Trump.
News is theatre. The scenery is fake and so is the acting.
Social media is a casino. Infinite scrolling designed to keep you hooked.
The world is a stage…and it is broadcast live to your screen every day.
Sadiq Khan to attack Brexit with new research on economic damage
Financial Times, 11 Jan 2024
How do you feel towards this headline?
Do you feel angry because you are a Brexiteer and a leading politician is trying to overturn Brexit?
Or do you feel angry because you are reminded that Brexit happened and it is a long road back to the EU?
If you feel any emotion at all just by the headline, you are still a rabbit caught in the headlights - you are missing the truth.
Brexit (the vote) happened in 2016 - 8 years ago now.
What else has happened since then to cause economic damage to the UK (and the world)?
The COVID lockdowns.
You do not need to look at the data on this one (it will prove this point anyway) to know what is the truth here.
What would cause more economic damage:
exiting a trade union (softly) that has only really existed since 1993 (The Maastricht Treaty), or
forcibly putting a bullet in the UK economy and keeping it on life-support with £313bn of extra government borrowing?
Now that interest rates have increased recently - UK 10 year government debt yields 3.83%.
All that government borrowing will have to be paid back with interest payment 3x greater than before COVID - that mean more taxes for the masses.
This is can be applied to the US and the EU countries too.
A soft-landing in the US is still a recession.
Did Brexit also damage the EU economy? Wasn’t it supposed to only damage the UK economy? Or has it also damaged the US economy also? Does that mean the UK economy is more integral to the global economy?
For those with eyes to see, it is clearly excessive monetary policy from all major government since 2020 (extra government borrowing) and dismantling the global supply chain that is causing current economic pain.
If you print too much money (artificially increase demand) and destroy supply (which takes years to come back online), prices have only one way to travel.
Did you really think those COVID stimulus checks were free?
They have to be paid back at some point - either by taxation or inflation, or both.
If London Mayor Sadiq Khan was really concerned with the economy of the UK, and London contributes 25% to national GDP, then why would he allow for congestion charges and the introduction of ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone)?
If you drive your vehicle and it does not meet the emissions standards, in the ULEZ, you will be charged £12.50 - if this is not paid within a certain time you will be fined £180.
The ULEZ scheme generated more then £224m in 2022 - £19m per month.
That is £19m per month less going to local businesses or buying property - great for the economy and living standards.
The scheme is expected to generate negligible income by 2027 - maybe because it will force everyone to sell their non-compliant cars and only those that survive the next wave of inflation will be able to afford expensive electric vehicles.
Khan does not care about the economy - he only cares about himself.
Rishi Sunak hugs Ukraine close with security deal and extra cash
POLITICO, 12 Jan 2024
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak arrived in Kyiv last Friday with a promise to offer Ukraine another £2.5bn in military aid - more profits for BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.
This is an increase of £200m on the previous two years.
Where does this money come from? Do you think you won’t have to pay higher taxes or lose your standard of living through higher inflation?
US military occupation in Afghanistan lasted 20 years - do you think the US and Europe won’t be involved in Ukraine for the same time?
Sunak said this at a press conference on Friday:
“For the free nations of the world, aid to Ukraine is also an investment in our own collective security," he said.
“Because if Putin wins in Ukraine, he will not stop there and our opponents around the world believe we have neither the patience nor resources for long wars.
"So waver now and we embolden not just Putin — but his allies in North Korea, Iran and elsewhere."
Do you really believe him?
Is aid to Ukraine important for the security of the UK? Just like killing 1,000,000 innocent Iraqis was integral to the security of the US and Europe during the overthrow of Saddam Hussein?
Despite your own opinion on the war, Putin himself has said Moscow will fight until it secures the Ukraine’s "demilitarization" and "denazification", unless Ukraine accepts a deal that achieves those goals.
Putin has never made any comment about invading Europe.
The BBC’s Newsnight programme 9 years ago reported on Ukraine’s Nazi problem.
Then in March 2022, the BBC claimed that the problem of Nazism in Ukraine is a lie spread by Putin.
How can you believe news media that change their narrative so openly?
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has also lead to an energy crisis in Europe, especially with the explosion of the Nordsteam gas pipeline.
If you are for the continued aid to Ukraine, how many winters are you willing to suffer in the cold before Ukraine is claimed victorious?
Again, this is not about taking sides here - this is about questioning the media and information you consume through your screens.
Also, if Kyiv is under constant attack from Russia, why is the UK Prime Minister flying there to give out a few billion pounds sterling?
Remember this too?
It’s perfectly normal for former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to walk around the city of Kyiv, while it is under attack from Russia, in nothing more than a suit?
Does this make sense to you?
Please watch French journalist Anne-Laure Bonnel’s Donbass documentary for more context on the conflict:
US and UK carry out strikes against Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen
CNN, 12 Jan 2024
Now how do you feel about this headline?
Iran is part of the Axis of Evil right? So good riddance to those Houthis in Yemen!
Well what has been happening in Yemen is almost no different to what has been happening in Palestine.
According to the UN, as of 2023, there were 21.6m people in need of humanitarian assistance - that is 10x the population of Palestine.
Where are the protests in the streets of London and New York in support of the Yemeni people?
Well the screen didn’t flash bright lights in your face to tell you to be concerned about Yemen, did it?
Of course, some retaliation is expected after the Houthis started attacking ships in the Red Sea but is it necessary to launch airstrikes against the local population?
Like most events in the Middle East, this is a complicated situation and that is exactly why it is important to know more beyond what you consume from your screens.
In fact, how is propagating a skirmish between Russia and Ukraine good for the environment? Isn’t war an immense CO2-emmiting activity? Is that why the London Mayor is charging fines to those with on-compliant cars, to offset the war?
Each news story should never be read in isolation.
When compared they rarely make any sense.
Be Aware
Do you remember the day Putin invaded Ukraine? It was on 24th February 2022.
This was also the day COVID disappeared from the news.
Just like that.
Putin was the great threat to your existence and COVID quickly became a distant memory.
Everyone’s offices, schools and bars were now filled with chatter about Putin, invasions and WWIII rather than COVID variants, R values and social distancing.
If you did not witness this slight-of-hand then you are currently at the mercy of your screens - of the information sources you consume.
One day you could not visit your grandmother in her care home (she likely died alone) and the next you were compelled to accept Ukrainian refugees into your home - make sense?
The Times probably reported front-page after front-page about COVID for more than 2 years, and all of a sudden: “Cash for honours inquiry deepens crisis for royals”, and “Whitehall convinced Putin is about to invade” (16th-18th February 2022).
Look at how in 2 days former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson went from appearing guilty about having “lockdown parties” to then appear in a fighter jet!
If this article has not inspired you to seek alternative news and education, at least try this the next time you watch the TV or scroll through all the apps on your screen:
Whatever is the top story today, remember what the top story was yesterday (can be on a monthly basis too) - ask yourself, why is the previous story no longer relevant?
Nothing happens spontaneously - what is the context here, or has this source reported differently in the past?
Forget the right vs. left dynamic - it is a circus designed to distract both sides from the truth
Americans Finally Have Access to American Propaganda
The Atlantic, July 2013
It is also more important than ever to search for alternative sources as governments around the world are more able to broadcast propaganda to their citizens.
Break free of your echo chamber.
Break free of your screen hypnosis.
Enter the real world. Just go for a walk!
You may learn that truth is always stranger than fiction.
“What difference does it make if it's true? If it's a story and it breaks, they're gonna run with it.” - Robert De Niro as Conrad Brean in Wag the Dog (1997)
…
Oh yeah, speaking of “all the world’s a stage”, what was the name of the first man in the UK to receive the COVID jab? William Shakespeare.
